And also the website still redirects to the app to watch content on both iPad and iPhone, there is no way to watch their content on their website which honestly had the option for Picture in Picture.Never miss a moment with the Official F1® App.ĭownload the Official F1® App for all the F1 news, results, timings and in-depth analysis. Updating my review from one star to two stars. It would be nice to have the stream on my tablet going and being able to see the timings, other in car feeds without losing the main feed. As for the iPad and phone versions of this app my previous complaints still exist: stops/pauses when accessing Control Center, doesn’t support Picture in Picture. This doesn’t support Picture in Picture but many services on Apple TV don’t. A service adding their app to Apple TV and not having it incorporate the “up next” area of Apple TV is a huge miss in my opinion. I’ve used the Apple TV version of this app and so far the streams have been steady. Update: It’s the weekend of the Miami GP and I still can’t access Control Center while a video is playing nor is there support for PiP nor is there support for background playing. I’m a college student- which kinda seems to be F1’s new target audience if I’m not mistaken? So why is it so expensive? If there is a triple header I’ll consider buying it again on a month to month basis, but largely speaking, I’ll record the race and watch it afterwards and sacrifice a timing board to keep my ten bucks that month. I can’t believe it’s even an option.Īltogether, (assuming you have the full sub) I think it’s a pretty good app and most of the time does what it claims to do, save for those fidgety occasions, but it’s too expensive for me to warrant a monthly sub. You can go all in or not at all, the mid tier level sub for 3 or 4 bucks gets you hardly anything at all, it’s entirely pointless. While I typically do this on my own, it would be nice to have a split screen feature or even device syncing so I don’t have to readjust every time I pause a race. I’ve recently been unable to AirPlay the app to my tv, all my other streaming services do this so I don’t know why this app is having trouble all of a sudden.Īlso, I often use one device to watch the main coverage and on a second device I have the timing board or a driver cam up. While I do enjoy the features and archive, the app can be fidgety, especially when you consider how expensive it is relative to the provided content.
